Now that we have the bikes sorted, it’s time to choose where to go. In Bohinj you have a lot of options on where to go on a cycling tour. If we were in the area for the first time we would choose one of the following suggestions.
Cycle path around Bohinj valley
In Bohinj you will find one of the most beautiful cycling paths in Slovenia. The Bohinj cycling path connects the upper and lower valley into one 16 km long loop where you can explore the typical alpine villages, landscape and atmosphere.
This 16 km loop takes you through picturesque alpine villages and serene landscapes, making it one of the most beautiful cycling paths in Slovenia. Perfect for families and beginners, the trail has just 250 m of elevation gain and is suitable even for small children. For a safer route, we recommend turning around at the village of Češnjica if you’re cycling with kids.

Note: The tour is suitable also for small children, but we suggest you to turn around once you reach village Cesnjica and do an out and back ride from your starting point. If you choose to do the entire loop you will have to share the road with cars between the villages Cesnjica, Jereka, Bitnje and Bohinjska Bistrica.
From Bohinjska Bistrica to Savica Waterfall
Savica waterfall is the most famous waterfall in Bohinj valley and one of the most famous waterfalls in Slovenia. Located in the Komarca wall at the end of the Bohinj valley this waterfall is defenetely a ‘must see spot’ during your visit of Bohinj valley. You can ride by bike all the way to the parking lot under the waterfall and then hike the last 20 min on foot to see it from a nice viewpoint. Please note that there is a small entrance fee colected just before you start your hike to the viewpoint.

Note: More than half of Bohinj valley is located in the Triglav National Park and there are park rules that we kindly ask you to follow during your visit. One of this rules is that cycling on the north shore is not allowed and possible. We kindly ask you to follow all the rules of the area.
To Uskovnica-Zajamniki-Jereka
Bohinj valley is surounded by high peaks of the Julian Alps including the highest mountain in Slovenia, mt. Triglav (2864m). One of the most popular routes to climb mt. Triglav is from the Pokljuka plateau. You can’t ride your bike to mt. Triglav, but you can explore by bike the Pokljuka plateau with its amazing alpine meadows and magic spruce forests and if you want to experience mountain life by bike we suggest you to do this great tour.
