Chalet Pokljuka – Home away from home
Its located on Pokljuka, high plateau above Bohinj valley, just a 20-minute drive from lake Bohinj and offers stunning views toward Bohinj valley and Julian Alps.
Outside is a wonderful garden with a barbecue and beautiful views which is nice for relaxing after an active day. Chalet Pokljuka is an excellent starting point for hiking and biking trips and also the famous Juliana trail passes close by.
It is nestled in the heart of Slovenia majestic mountains it promises an unforgettable experience. Surrounded with nature, offering all the comfort you need for creating unforgettable memories.
A story about Chalet Pokljuka
Maja spent all her school holidays and weekends on Pokrovec (part of Pokljuka) with her parents, who own a chalet just next to ours. Many wonderful memories and storys were created there.
Together with our neighbours we were like one big family, where everyone participated and helped each other. We organized ski competitions on the nearby hill, shouted with excitement during adrenaline-fueled rides in an old inflatable boat, skated on the natural ice rink by the house, exercised in the morning in the hayrack, and enjoyed fresh milk that we kids would walk to the nearby village to get.
We spent all our days outside, in nature, and at night we admired million stars at a fireplace. Truly unforgettable memories.

Renovation of chalet pokljuka
When we bought a cabin nearby a few years ago, it needed a complete renovation. A tremendous amount of effort and time was invested in the renovation together with Maja’s father, as we wanted to transform the cabin in line with sustainable principles, using local materials, preserving items that could be restored, and, above all, giving the cabin the soul of the forest and a sense of nature within.
We did most of the work ourselves, using wood from our forest, stones from the nearby stream, and furniture that we breathed new life into through restoration.
We wanted the guests to immerse themselves in nature, enjoy activities, relax from everyday worries and reconnect to the nature. Till now our mission is successful, since guests who stayed at the chalet have created unforgettable memories. Here are just a few:

Chalet Pokljuka is not your average getaway cabin. We have done almost all of the renovation of the chalet on our own and we really tried to preserve the authentic style of the Slovenian mountain architecture combining the traditional knowledge with the comfort that we all deserve on our vacation. Inside, you’ll find comfortable and guest-friendly rooms with all the necessary equipment for a great escape from the busy everyday life. Whether you’re relaxing by the fire or enjoying the mountain views from your private terrace, you’ll feel right at home in this chalet.
A Playground for Outdoor Enthusiasts
If you are into walking, hiking or mountaineering then this chalet is the prefect choice. With it’s location on the Pokljuka plateau you have amazing walks starting straight from the chalet.
The chalet offers hiking maps for use during your stay and all the guests also get access to custom GPS tracks and a phone app that can be used for navigation during hikes.

If you are a fan of water and like water sports then just a short drive to the valley will bring you to the shores of the world famous lake Bohinj, where you can enjoy kayaking, stand up paddle, canoueing and swimming in pristine natural glacier lake. This is the perfect place to explore the mountains. Very scenic and quiet. Far away from any busy areas, close enough to facilities like stores and restaurants and of course in the middle of the stunning national park. We did enjoy every minute and can only recommend this place, especially if you look for relaxation.

Maja is an exceptional host. Great communication throughout. She is warm and friendly. Her clean cabin is cozy and just as described. It is quaint in a peaceful and relaxing setting. Hearing cowbells in the morning is a bonus!
