Day by day itinerary

Day 1 will start with a welcome meeting, where you will get all final information and materials for your trip. If you choose to rent bikes with us, this will also be the day, when we will fit the bike to your needs. We recommend to follow the day rides like we suggest, but since you will be center-based, you can choose on your own what ride to do.
On your first ride you will explore the famous Pokljuka plateau and Bohinj valley. First part of the ride will take you through scenic villages, to the start of the climb, up to the plateau. Once you reach it, you will enjoy riding through beautiful spruce tree forests. From Pokljuka you also have amazing views on the high peaks of the Julian Alps, including the highest peak mt. Triglav. After the ride across the plateau, you will descend in one of the nicest valleys in Slovenia. Bohinj valley, with its largest permanent lake in Slovenia, is a true pearl and you will get the chance to see this for yourself. After the ride through the valley, you have two options how to return back to Bled. You can either bike back, or you can take the train on the famous Bohinj railroad that used to connect Vienna with Trieste.

- distance: 71.5 km
- vertical meters: 1200 m (up and down)
Today your cycling will be in the eastern part of the Gorenjska region. Gora means mountain in Slovenian language and you will have some hills on todays ride as well. You will cycle along the Sava river in the beginning, before you do a short climb, that will bring you to the world famous Kropa village, that is know for its blacksmiths and especially nail production. You can visit the museum, or just have a coffee break in the village and see for yourself, how Kropa looks and feels today. After the break, you will ride up the Jamnik hill, that offers amazing views on the whole Gorenjska region. The road will take you to the largest city in the region called Kranj and from there you will head towards Karavanke mountain range and a town called Trzic. A short climb will bring you to the "balcony of Gorenjska", where the views on the landscape and the Julian Alps will be just mind blowing. From here you will be mostly descending all the way to Begunje village. A village worldwide known for probably the most famous folk band from Slovenia - Ansambel bratov Avsenik. There is a museum and a restaurant that belongs to the Avsenik family in the village and we suggest to make a stop there and check it out. After the stop you have a nice ride, with just one short climb all the way to Bled.

- distance: 73 km
- vertical meters: 1200 m (up and down)
On this day you can choose again among nice scenic cycling through the villages and towns, that surround the Bled area and challenge yourself with some climbing on the winding roads. You will have a lot of options for stops along the way, either to visit natural or cultural attractions of the area, or experience the local vibe in the villages and towns. We are positive that you will have a great time on your bike and do some spectacular riding.

- distance: 85 km
- vertical meters: 1600 m (up and down)
An epic ride is on schedule on this day. You will be cycling in the glacial valleys, underneath some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps. Your ride will first take you to beautiful Radovna valley, where you will enter the Triglav National Park. From the valley you will do a short climb, followed by a descent to Mojstrana village and further on into Vrata valley, all the way to the famous Pericnik waterfall. There is a hut right next to the waterfall, where you can have a break. After you descend back to the village we strongly recommend to stop at the Slovenian Alpine museum, where you can find out, why hiking and the mountains mean so much to Slovenians. After the stop you have two options. If you choose the shorter ride, you can take the cycling path, that goes to an industrial city Jesenice and then ride back to Bled. If you want to ride more, you point yourself west towards famous winter resort Kranjska Gora. There is a beautiful ex railroad, now cycling path, that will take you to the town, where the best alpine skiers and ski jumpers meet every year for World cup competitions. Here you can explore the village centre, or ride to the Jasna lake and have a long break there. If you really want to challenge yourself, you to the highest pass in Slovenia - Vrsic (1611 m). The climb starts at the lake. There are 24 hairpins waiting for you. 😉 You descend on the same road back to Kranjska Gora and then you return back to Bled, via Jesenice.

On this day you will do a nice climb to Jamnik hill (830m) from where you will have the chance to admire the views on the whole Gorenjska region. Here you can choose between a longer or a shorter ride and explore picturesque villages and enjoy the scenic roads that will bring you back to your hotel.

- distance: 93 km
- vertical meters: 1500 m (up and down)
For the last ride we suggest that you do a ride all the way to the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. We have planned a beautiful ride that will take you through medieval Skofja Loka town all the way to the Ljubljana old town. We definitely suggest a break by the Ljubljanica river for lunch, before riding back to your base in Bled. This is a grand ride, to finish your Slovenian cycling adventure. Once you reach your accommodation it's time to celebrate and open a bottle of Slovenian wine or local beer and enjoy the rest of the day.
