Day by day itinerary

Day 1 will start with a welcome meeting, where you will get all final information and materials for your trip. If you choose to rent bikes with us, this will also be the day, when we will fit the bike to your needs. We recommend to follow the day rides like we suggest, but since you will be center-based, you can choose on your own what ride to do.
For your first ride, we suggest to explore the famous Pokljuka plateau and Bohinj valley. First part of the ride will take you through scenic villages, to the start of the climb, up to the plateau. Once you reach it, you will enjoy riding through beautiful spruce tree forests. From Pokljuka you also have amazing views on the high peaks of the Julian Alps, including the highest peak mt. Triglav. After the ride across the plateau, you will descend in one of the nicest valleys in Slovenia. Bohinj valley, with its largest permanent lake in Slovenia, is a true pearl and you will get the chance to see this for yourself. After the ride through the valley, you have two options how to return back to Bled. You can either bike back, or you can take the train on the famous Bohinj railroad that used to connect Vienna with Trieste.

Today your cycling will be in the eastern part of the Gorenjska region. Gora means mountain in Slovenian language and you will have some hills on todays ride as well. You will cycle along the Sava river in the beginning, before you do a short climb, that will bring you to the world famous Kropa village, that is know for its blacksmiths and especially nail production. You can visit the museum, or just have a coffee break in the village and see for yourself, how Kropa looks and feels today. After the break, you have a chance to do a longer version of the tour and take up a climb to Jamnik hill, that offers amazing views on the whole Gorenjska region. You will then continue to the largest city in the region called Kranj and from there you will head towards Karavanke mountain range and a town called Trzic. If you choose in Kropa to skip the first climb of the day, you will cycle through charming villages all the way to the outskirts of Trizc town, that was back in the day known for its shoemaking. Here the paths join and you will do a short climb to the "balcony of Gorenjska", where the views on the landscape and the Julian Alps will be just mindblowing. From here you will be mostly descending all the way to Begunje village. A village worldwide known for probably the most famous folk band from Slovenia - Ansambel bratov Avsenik. There is a musum and a restaurant that belongs to the Avsenik family in the village and we suggest to make a stop there and check it out. After the stop you have a nice ride, with just one short climb all the way to Bled.

Last ride of your cycling vacation in Bled, can be an epic one, if you choose so. Today you will be cycling in the glacial valleys, underneath some of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps. Your ride will first take you to beautiful Radovna valley, where you will enter the Triglav National Park. From the valley you will do a short climb, followed by a descent to Mojstrana village and further on into Vrata valley, all the way to the famous Pericnik waterfall. There is a hut right next to the waterfall, where you can have a break. After you descend back to the village we strongly recommend to stop at the Slovenian Alpine museum, where you can find out, why hiking and the mountains mean so much to Slovenians. After the stop you have two options. If you choose the shorter ride, you can take the cycling path, that goes to an industrial city Jesenice and then ride back to Bled. If you want to have more, you point yourself west towards famous winter resort Kranjska Gora. There is a beautiful ex railroad, now cycling path, that will take you to the town, where the best alpine skiers and ski jumpers meet every year for World cup competitions. Here you can explore the village centre, or ride to the Jasna lake and have a long break there. If you really want to challenge yourself, you to the highest pass in Slovenia - Vrsic (1611 m). The climb starts at the lake. There are 24 hear-pins waiting for you. 😉 You descend on the same road back to Kranjska Gora and then you return back to Bled, via Jesenice and finish an epic day with a glass of beer or Slovenian wine.
